Do you have or have you downloaded the bible for this year:  http://www.crossontherock.com//files/2014%20Master%20Guide.pdf

I was thinking while out for my first ride on my cross bike since Cumberland.  A S-L-O-W 60 minutes interrupted by a flat tire.  I was wondering if Peter Reid and Dave Damery only ride their bike for 60 minutes in the two weeks between COTR races.  Then I saw the photo of Peter racing the Cross Club race.  I am doomed!

Cumberland…..

I know it was a while back now….but if you were there for Saturday Night or Sunday or even better….BOTH….you know it was a SWEET time!!  From the “apple tosses” to the Expert Jump.  HUGE turn out with 216 riders and a tonne of kids.  26 guys and 23 girls in the beginner category.  The first Super Masters Race.  No trips to the hospital from the BMX track (might be a record)!  The Waverly.  The Riding Fool.  Lucky and one of my personal highlights; Trevor Perkins taking it out HARD in the Masters race and turning in his 2nd best placing of his 10 races raced.  GREAT wheel to wheel action.  Lots of Fun.  No “Attitude”….just the type of racing we love!

Re-live it with Patrick Burnham’s photos from the weekend:

Before we get onto this week’s exciting race just an important note on PASSING.
We had a few e-mails on passing at the last event.  Nothing “serious” just a few requests to get some information out there.

Here are a few guidelines:

  1. If there is someone in your race on the same lap as you.  Game on and good luck.  Keep it fun.  Keep it fair.  Don’t hurt each other.
  2. If there is someone in your race but they are being passed by someone that is lapping that rider.  The lapped rider should make it easy for the person that is 1 lap up to pass.  Do your best.  Let the person know that they you are coming through.  That you are 1 lap up.  That you love them.  And ask them to move over as soon as they can safely do so.  Then say “Thanks”.
  3. With multiple categories on the course at the same time…..if someone is passing you that is NOT in your category.  Please let them by as quickly and safely as possible.  Use manners!

We all want to race which is GREAT but we need to get along out there.  Lets see if we can be a “bit” more smooth on the course on Sunday!
