LUMBER CROSS DETAILS (PRETTY MUCH EVERYTHING THAT YOU NEED TO KNOW)

Course Designers:
Eric Bruvall and Lee Blais

Course Description:
Being that this is the Alberni Valley prepare for the unusual… woods, crazed loggers (volunteering of course), halucinagenic mushrooms, and possibly rain.

Now, for the serious business. The course is approximately 2.8km in length starting at the mill site then traversing the mill perimeter to some fast open gravel road sections followed by some slick equestrian trails then back into the mill site for some meandering around the bunkhouses, cedar trees, various heavy machinery spitting the racers into the Intestine (our own version of the Whirly-whatever) taking the racers back to the lap point.

Facilities:
On site amenities include washrooms and the city operated Steampot Cafe which will be serving coffee, hot chocolate and soup and a bun served until 4PM so please bring cash. As well as a bike wash station.

REMEMBER this is a HISTORIC site and we would love to be welcomed back so please be mindful of the area and your actions…..as always with our series!

Cross on the Rock Racers at Nationals
The few….the fast….the fearless. OK I had a bit of fear…a lot but it all worked out for us!
3 Podiums.
2 National Champ Jerseys!
Peter Wellsman took home a Silver in the 50-59 Category with a last minute effort passing 3rd and 2nd on the last half a lap. Peter overcame HUGE pre-gun anxiety when the officials measured his previously cleared Bulldogs on the start line and said this time that they were too wide….Wendy and I FLEW into action and did a NASCAR wheel change running to the Van for some other wheels, pump, tools and had him set up with literally 30 seconds before the gun.
Jamie Emery was 8th in the same Category.
I was the only C.O.T.R. representative in the 40-49 category but I got the job done for us….don’t know how I did it?
In the 30-39 Masters Men’s category we had only Kim Steed who has occasionally done C.O.T.R. events but it has been a while…since he claimed a 3rd we will say that he is a regular and acquired some of his skills at our events!

Elite Men we had Craig Ritchey in 5th, Tyler Trace in 6th, Kevin Calhoun in 10th, Nicholas Berry in 13th Kevin Noiles in 19th, Drew MacKenzie after being run over at one point in 20th.

And the BIG WINNER in the Women’s Elite Category…Wendy Simms 1st. Followed by Mical Dyck in 6th and young Amanda Wakeling in 14th!!

Roland has put up a couple of shots on the Cross on the Rock web site of the podium and here are a couple more.

TRAILER FUND We are at $600 so far
OK guys we are pretty sure that we have a nice starter trailer for the series to buy. This has been a goal for a while so that we can keep all the gear for the events enclosed and have the trailer go to each venue. I have been keeping my eye open for something that most vehicles would be able to tow and I found once….at a reasonable price. SO we are doing a MAJOR FUND RAISER this weekend so that we can purchase the trailer. We will have donation jars at registration on both days as well you can e-mail me donations to normont@islandnet.com via pay pal or interac on-line. 100% of all the money will go towards this trailer. Please help us out….we want to buy this trailer and get it all set up for 2011. (Just so you know…We have never taken any money out of the series…it all goes back into the series and the clubs…that is just how we roll with it)
