COTR 2014: New Venue. COTR #2

Do you have or have you downloaded the bible for this year:  http://www.crossontherock.com//files/2014%20Master%20Guide.pdf

I was thinking while out for my first ride on my cross bike since Cumberland.  A S-L-O-W 60 minutes interrupted by a flat tire.  I was wondering if Peter Reid and Dave Damery only ride their bike for 60 minutes in the two weeks between COTR races.  Then I saw the photo of Peter racing the Cross Club race.  I am doomed!

Cumberland…..

I know it was a while back now….but if you were there for Saturday Night or Sunday or even better….BOTH….you know it was a SWEET time!!  From the “apple tosses” to the Expert Jump.  HUGE turn out with 216 riders and a tonne of kids.  26 guys and 23 girls in the beginner category.  The first Super Masters Race.  No trips to the hospital from the BMX track (might be a record)!  The Waverly.  The Riding Fool.  Lucky and one of my personal highlights; Trevor Perkins taking it out HARD in the Masters race and turning in his 2nd best placing of his 10 races raced.  GREAT wheel to wheel action.  Lots of Fun.  No “Attitude”….just the type of racing we love!

Re-live it with Patrick Burnham’s photos from the weekend:

Before we get onto this week’s exciting race just an important note on PASSING.
We had a few e-mails on passing at the last event.  Nothing “serious” just a few requests to get some information out there.

Here are a few guidelines:

  1. If there is someone in your race on the same lap as you.  Game on and good luck.  Keep it fun.  Keep it fair.  Don’t hurt each other.
  2. If there is someone in your race but they are being passed by someone that is lapping that rider.  The lapped rider should make it easy for the person that is 1 lap up to pass.  Do your best.  Let the person know that they you are coming through.  That you are 1 lap up.  That you love them.  And ask them to move over as soon as they can safely do so.  Then say “Thanks”.
  3. With multiple categories on the course at the same time…..if someone is passing you that is NOT in your category.  Please let them by as quickly and safely as possible.  Use manners!

We all want to race which is GREAT but we need to get along out there.  Lets see if we can be a “bit” more smooth on the course on Sunday!

COTR #2.  The Bear Crossing.

Pre-Registration is the WAY TO GO.  Pre-reg closes Saturday night at 7:00 Pm but of course you are better off just to finish reading this e-mail and register right now!

The Big Blurb: Bear Crossing.  Bear Mountain.

Making use of the entire Bear Mountain Golf Driving Range, the race course will be a super-fast rolling and flowy endeavour making full use of the undulating and perfectly groomed golf course terrain to create lots of bermed corners, off camber sections and high speed momentum sectors.

There will be a BBQ on the course with burgers and dogs as well a beverage cart at the venue with snacks and drinks. Bring cash if you plan on eating.

AWARDS and APRES RACE:
Following the races, Awards will take place on the Masters Lounge Patio at the Westin Bear Mountain Resort. Three food stations with a variety of offerings such as tacos and other relatively low cost items will be available along with BEER!

COTR 2014: Coal Cross 2014 and the night before Coal Cross 2014.

Every year we start organizing the Cross on the Rock Series early. EARLY…as in about a week after the series ends and sometimes even during the series we are organizing for the next year. Every year it seems we are pushing at the end to get information out….to find up the details….to get it dialed in for you guys. This year is an exception. We are even LATER. This is mostly because my business, Frontrunners-Nanaimo, moved locations after 15 years to a new shop on Bowen Road. Stefan and I have been working our butts off getting things built, organized, destroyed, packed, stored, packed again, moved and open. We are “in” but the shop is not “finished”. Tonight I should be up bolting things to the wall with Stefan but instead I am dialing in the last things of the series with Curtis, Lisa, Mark and Roland for this weekend. To make up for it everyone that races COTR needs to come into the new Frontrunners in Nanaimo (#1-1825 Bowen Road) and buy something during the cross season. That would make Stefan happy and make up for me not being there tonight.

Onto the NEWS….and there is a LOT of it!! (Race information. Series Change etc.)

This weekend is the SEASON Opener for our 9th COTR season.

There are 3 things you need to do in the next few days:

1). Get a license with Cycling BC. The one you need is the $45 BC Citizen License. That will cover you for all of our COTR events including Provincial Championships this year. The UCI one is the one you want if you are racing National Championships. The “Club Associate Membership” will NOT do for you. If you don’t want to buy a license…no problem. You just pay $10 extra per event to race…..and you can still pay.

2) Check your bike over….check it over again…check your tires….check your chain…check your brakes….have it dialed.

3) REGISTER. This has proven to be the hardest part but don’t worry….it takes only a few minutes and you have a LOT of minutes between now and Saturday Night when we will cut registration off.
Register for all 6 races before September 13th at 7:00pm and receive $10 off the series for Beginner Categories and $20 off the series for Intermediate, Masters, Open and Expert Categories. Discount will be displayed in the payment summary as individual discounts off each event.

Register for the Series! or Register for Coal Cross!

It all starts in Cumberland

Print

SATURDAY NIGHT.
The first ever Waverly Cross Crit. See attached poster!! Race start at 5:30. The course is ON and OFF road so Cross Tires are MANDATORY! Two categories: Open Men. Open Women. Must be over 18 years to play.

Book a night in the Riding Fool Hostel and then get ready for…..

SUNDAY. COTR #1. Coal Cross.

How many times have we raced in Cumberland now…….it never disappoints! Last year was a MONSOON. Opening up the series with one of the wettest races in COTR history. This year the weather looks….well…nice. More like 2 years ago. Long sleeve skin suits NOT needed!

Super Lap……for the EXPERT MEN’S race only to try it out for this race. Super Lap is a 15-20 second short cut that a racer can take ONCE during the race. They can not take it on the FIRST or the LAST lap. Other than that they can take it at any time. It is a strategic move. Shake and Bake. Bridge up. …..use it for what ever. IF a racer takes a Super Lap more than once….they get added on 3:00 to their time. So be careful. There will be someone keeping track of who goes through but it is only their job to record numbers….not to tell riders who has one left or has not used them. No information given.

HELP WELCOME: As always these races do NOT put themselves on. If you can help with Registration, Timing (experience is an asset), Set up, tear down, course monitor….please e-mail Curtis at saundersdiaz@hotmail.com You don’t have to help for the WHOLE DAY so we can split it up a bit if needed/wanted.

COTR 2014—Series Change. Take NOTE.

Complications have arisen with our race in Ladysmith so we are returning to Farmer Bills. Loved my many! Ladysmith hopes to return in 2015.

Season Preview. (and get rid of me if you want to)

First off:

Before we get to the good stuff we all know that the “man” is harshing on everyone sending out “unsolicited” e-mails. At this point…..many years down the road we have a pretty diverse and huge mailing list. BUT I know that not everyone is into “Cross” or reading about all the awesome stuff we do….SO IF YOU DON’T WANT THESE E-MAILS….just send me a note. I don’t have some fancy program to filter everyone and send “please love us” e-mails and all that stuff (read “crap”). Just reply to this one. Send me a nice note. I will take you off our list of super cool people. (OK you might be still a bit cool but not into cross….just not super-cool).

image001
This is a great photo of how COTR is….we race the snot out of each other….for 1st or 30th. Then we turn and shake hands and congratulate each other on the effort! (Geoff Robson Photo)

OK onto the important stuff.

No summer race this summer.
I have to call “No Mas”. No more. I can’t do it. You see I have had a dream for 4 years since doing a wicked Raleigh Mid Summer Night cross race in Roslyn Washington of doing a similar one here. This year I got the closest to my dream. Filled out park applications. Talked to people about it. Put it on a schedule. Even harassed SRAM to get my brakes back (took so freaken LONG) for my Major Jake so I would have a bike. But the reality has set in. I just can’t do it. There is SO MUCH going on right now with the main thing being that Frontrunners is moving at the end of the summer and we are moving/building a new shop. The amount of time that is taking up is pretty much every moment that might have been used for something fun….and then some. I just can not allocate any time for the super-cool-summer-cx race that I have been thinking about for 4 years. Sorry everyone! In the meantime if anyone wants to play that old favorite game “Who is busier than who” just e-mail me and we can compare notes. BUT be warned…..I will be getting bonus points as I am sitting in my office at 9:22pm writing all my favorite cross people to give them the news….on the day I was born….because I could not find any time otherwise…..you don’t want to play that game with me!!

More important stuff.

If you have not checked out the complete BC Cylocross race Calendar for 2014 it is here:
http://cyclingbc.net/wp-content/uploads/2014-Cyclocross-Calendar.pdf

The most important dates are of course these ones:

COTR 2014
Sunday Sept 14 – Cumberland. Coal Cross
Sunday Sept 28 – Victoria. Possible New Venue
Monday Oct 13 – Bowen. Kona Kup. Provincial Championships
Sunday Oct 19 – Ladysmith. Crosstoberfest.
Sunday Nov 2 – Speedway. Binab Property Group GP
Sunday Nov 9 – Shawnigan Lake School. Ronde Von Hogwarts
Sunday Nov 23 – Arbutus Meadows. My Little Pony Cross. Series Final

7 Races.
6 Series Races
1 Provincial Championships
Drama, Excitement, pukeworthy effort, Post race beer. A Tonne of really-really nice people.

image003
(Geoff Robson Photo)

One more piece of important news.
We have learned that more than one of our female COTR racers are helping us boost our racer numbers. Unfortunately this participation boost does not help the series for about 12 years. In the meantime the mom’s are out for the season (rightfully so….the first year is TOUGH). Knowing our numbers….and wanting to keep those female categories STRONG as they have been in the past. Start thinking about recruiting NOW. Get those new and past female racers on their cross bikes and stoked for cross! We have the best numbers for female racers…but we need to keep them UP to keep all the categories viable and competitive! Congratulations to the new, new again and soon to be new future cross racers and families.

ONE little note from last year’s LOST and FOUND.

All the stuff below has been given back to their owners or tossed with the exception of the Specialized leg warmers in the bottom right corner. Normally I would just pass these onto a deserving jr racer or Darrel that picks up bottles from our shop on his bike and puts more km’s (need to get that guy on Strava) than Peter Wellsman…..but these leg warmers have been modified with RED RIBBON….so someone has taken some LOVE and attention to them….a GIRL…..so I would love to get them back to the right owner.

COTR 2013: November News #5: This season is a wrap.

2013 COTR is done. There were winners. And at our series….there were other winners. We don’t have “losers” at COTR!!

Before we really “get into it” for this last newsletter. This is YOUR series. Fire me a note. What you liked. What you liked less. Which courses you liked. Which ones you liked less. What you would change. What you would not touch. And other stuff. Without feedback nothing will change….well that is not completely true as Roland and I and others are already working on “stuff” to swap it up….but we still want your feedback!!

image006

A nice shot of Patrick Burnham’s dislocated finger from COTR #6. The pro he is he kept on racing, then stuck around shooting, also sticking around to collect his award for best photo this year and THEN went to emergency on the way home.

Check out his photos from COTR #6 here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/palleus/sets/72157638067968034/

We also had Duane Martindate shooting a LOT of images at the race. When I last checked he only had Expert up but by now he might have a few more categories: http://duanebc.com/raceresults2013/VCL2013results.html

Before we pull our skis out and wait for snow at Mt Washington (The snow cam does NOT look good right now) we have one more newsletter to get through. (Some people have said my newsletters are LONG….how can they not be as there is SO MUCH INFORMATION!!)

image008

What recycling day looks like at my house.

HOT TOPICS

  • There is no beer or rumble at the end of this one but I can tell you if these guys get enough POSTIVE feedback about the event last weekend at Shawnigan Lake School…..there is a great chance it could happen again. 240 racers……goal should be 50 e-mails to these guys?? Takes 2 minutes: David Roberston c/o of his admin assistant: sblair@shawnigan.ca
    Barry Welsh: bwelsh@shawnigan.ca
  • Dragons Den! You have heard of it. Check out RUMBLE on Dragon’s den on December 4th.
  • Lap Splits. In case you missed Roland’s Face Book post. The lap sheets are on the results pages. Keep in mind these are done by hand and the first lap is always chaos. Regardless you will love the numbers.
  • Pelle edits….not ready yet. We are waiting for one from Ladysmith and one from Hogwarts…..at least we have something to look forward to!
  • National Champs. This weekend in South Surrey. I think it will be the largest number of people from COTR going to a National Champs of all time. Remember. When we are at COTR it is club against club. Town against Town. At Nationals COTR is one family! Bring some hardware back to the Island.
  • Speaking of National Championships: Pedal Magazine is looking for assistance with coverage of the 2013 CX Nats this weekend for reporting and video interviews – pls contact benjamin@pedalmag.com or at 416-977-2100.
  • June CX. I have heard they have a race director but no more information at this time.
  • Great having Rafael Lalumiere out racing this past weekend after his crash at COTR #2. http://www.crossontherock.com//php/racer/?racername=Raphael+Lalumiere
  • VERY WEIRD: Someone grabbed someone’s old Blunstones leaving the Rugby Club house after the awards. Size 10 Ladies. The more unfortunate thing is this racer also had a specialized jacket (black, white zipper, ladies small) taken from on top of my car at the Kona Kup. Double Whammy! Traditional curse of many flat tires and DNF’s to the person if they do not return them to the rightful owner.
  • Blubber Burn is being put on the last Sunday of January so the 26th. Stucky Life is also planning on doing 2 other races. A CX TT and a regular CX race in the next two months. Keep an eye on their FB page for more information. Maybe a boxing day CX race??
  • Need a hotel room for Nationals? A bit of a drive from race site….but might work for you: Discount rate at the Accent Inn in Richmond, near the airport. Quote the “cross on the Rock” rate to ($79/night). The hotel is right on the highway and a short drive to both the ferry and Surrey. Phone 604.273.3311 Accent Inn Vancouver Airport. 10551 St. Edwards Drive (off Hwy 99) Richmond B.C. V6X 3L8
  • If you won shoes at the last race. Se don’t expect you to jam your feet into them Come exchange them for the right size at Frontrunners Nanaimo OR fire me an e-mail and I can arrange to bring a size to Nationals, stock transfer one to another shop OR mail one to you. Sweet shoes so don’t miss out.

Photo of the year

Patrick Burnham’s photo won the COTR Photo of the year competition with this submission.

image017

One of our judges/professional photographers had this to day about it:

Criteria first. Comments second.

  1. Quality of photo. Vibrant colours, Great action
  2. Composition.. Rider in the clouds stands out nicely, like the rider in the foreground just leaving the frame too
  3. Framing… kinda part of composition isn’t it? (Norm’s note….snobby photographer talk there from the judge)
  4. IF the photo captures “Cross”… Cant see how this isn’t “Cross”
  5. If the photo captures COTR?… GAP JUMP!!!!

Calendars

Patrick Burnham will be putting together his AWESOME calendars again. E-Mail him if you want 12 months of COTR race action to look up at every day!! His e-mail is: palleus@hotmail.com

What do we have planned for 2014??

You should not be surprised to learn that the race directors are already sorting out the race calendar for next season. We have the opening date already planned: September 14th Sunday in Cumberland. We have the closing date planned. Sunday, November 23rd. The middle is pretty much planned. Return of NICSSCOTU in there as well. June cx. Possible Mid-Summer BBQ Cx. The stoke is already high. We try hard to improve every year…..and I think we will set the bar even higher next year!!

We are going to shuffle a few things around (Calendar). Tweak a few things (Adding options for pre-registration payment as one). Hopefully dial in a bunch of little items as well. There is an “Action Items” list….we will see how many of those we get to. Even if we did not change a thing I think we would all still have a great time racing…..but we WILL change a few things so hopefully we will have a GREATER time racing!!

Who kicks ass? Our Sponsors do!

Without our sponsors we would be….well a lot less than what we are. Sponsorship is TOUGH. Limited $$. Limited time to chase down everything. It is the hardest part of the COTR series by far. SO when you have a great bunch of sponsors…you keep your fingers crossed that everyone supports them and makes them feel like they are doing something worthwhile to support cycling so that they continue to help us out.

Series Sponsors:

Nutcase Helmets. The kids races have become one of each of the race day’s highlights. Some of the “kids” racing the beginners race and then also the kids races in order to get the loot bags and have a bit more fun. Nutcase was there again this year with 8 helmets, super cool bells and “magical” wristbands.

Saltspring Coffee. With Bryn gone from our great coffee supplier we were a bit worried but his replacement, Chantal Ireland, had it all dialed in. Each week before the races a box would arrive at the shop that would take the runners smell away and make us smell like a high end coffee shop for a day. The sponsor of our LAST NOT LAPPED competition (ie. You need a coffee) at all the races. We also had some for the podiums at Provincial Champs and for the series overall. A great local sponsor and worthy of your support every time you are shopping for a pound (or 454g) bag.

Shimano, Pro, Pearl Izumi. Joele uses a LOT of her marketing budget supporting COTR. We HOPE we make it worth it for her and the companies she represents. The Pearl Izumi Shoes for the winners of the categories at the last event was SWEET. Lots of nice tools and parts from PRO as well as the parts for the Naked Frame. WHEELS from Shimano at COTR #5!! Great to have the support from these companies (and Joele).

Rumble. Paul comes out and races. They drag more people out to race. The only sponsor that has had a double lung transplant. The only person that has ever raced COTR that we know of that has had a lung transplant! Cases of Rumble. Sponsor of the “lets get ready to RUMBLE” first lap prime. Series prize sponsors. They sample product at some of the events. They deliver more than they promise. They are pretty much a perfect fit for us. Don’t forget to watch Dragon’s Den on December 4th!!

Phillips Beer. The “Heist” edit from Pelle was our most popular edits this year. And of course Phillips beer was our most popular prize! We swapped it up a bit this year with the sweet GROWLERS for both Provincials Champs as well as the Series Champs. Top single speed (if they were of age) still got the 6 pack which was always a great and welcome prize at every event.

Zed Wheels. Brad Head also races the series. One of the many sponsors that races but in this case it helps him build wheels specific to the conditions you will face at COTR races. Great wheels! Pretty sweet series prizes!

Frontrunners. Without Frontrunners support I could not put on the events. Simple as that. They also provide the numbers for all the events. Partners with Pearl Izumi for the footwear and suppliers of lots of other draw prizes. Not to mention tents and time off. It was great to see the Splashes-Frontrunners team at all the events this year supported through Frontrunners-Westshore.

Kona. We did not get Dik Cox out for his lifetime second cross race but Kona has been along with us since the beginning. The title sponsor of the Kona Kup Provincial Championships. We had great KONA beer mugs for the podium places as well as a complete Jake the Snake for a DRAW PRIZE!!

Cycles Lambert-Leyzene. Peter has been sponsoring COTR since….well a LONG time. He always digs deep and does what he can for us. The Leyzene Pumps for the series awards….Peter. The Leyzene Pumps for the series awards for the past few years….also Peter. Thanks Peter!

Oak Bay Bikes. We started with Nanaimo but the support is spreading and now coming from all the OBB’s! They have been involved since the very first underground-unoffical race in 2003. Organizers of Kona Kup. Always there when we need them. Hunting down more sponsors for us where ever they can.

The Howard Johnston. Dan Brady the General Manager from the Howard Johnston in Nanaimo and at Elk Lake always supports what ever we are doing. I can him up and say, “we are doing this”. He replies, “What do you need”. It is a great relationship!

Action Motorcycles. Don’t sign your kids up for hockey might be the message from Jamie Emery this year. Rink time takes away from riding as well as racing!! Jamie still made it out for a bunch of our races and their family took great care of Tycho and Tessa so Wendy and I could both race the Expert race at COTR #6. Now that is a sponsor!!

Naked Bikes. A Naked frame from the (formerly) worlds fastest cyclist. Might be the best draw prize of all time for the series. Although Sam was standing right beside me at the awards….I did not hear a word of his speech as I was SUPER-Focused. I hear it was great! Another one of our sponsor that races. Another one of our sponsors that race that make their own equipment! Jen is super excited to win the frame and we look forward to seeing it in action next year at NICSSCOTU.

Bike Shop Sponsors.

The bike shop support on Vancouver island has grown with the series. We have a solid group of shops that do rides, come to races, donate draw prizes, staff race, sponsored clubs race. It is a win-win situation!

Oak Bay Bikes in Victoria, Westshore and Nanaimo

Experience cycles in Duncan
Cowichan Cycles in Duncan
Cycle Therapy in Duncan
Frontrunners in Nanaimo

We are done….why are you looking down here at all? Have you missed the “Parting Shot” and last word this year? Thought I would bring it back on request.

Here is a shot from Paul from RUMBLE of me on the ground at the finish line of Kona Kup Provincial Champs. I think I was down on the ground for about 10 minutes. Honestly 5 of it was recovering from the effort of the race. The next 5 was just nice to not have to do anything for 5 minutes and just have some quiet time in a very-very busy weekend!

COTR 2013: November News #4: Special Edition. COTR#6. Shawnigan Lake.

I was dropping the trailer off at Shawnigan Lake Schoool yesterday morning and reminded of our 2009 race there. Really looking forward to being back tomorrow.

Later in the day I was sorting the prizes for the race and the series final and I started adding things up a bit:

Rough Estimate

· $2200 – Youth Grants sponsored by Patrick Burnham, Tyler Trace, Victoria Cross Club, Pro City Cycling, Binab Property Group GP, Vista Estates.
· $2200 – Adult Series Prizes sponsored by: Phillips Brewery, Saltspring Coffee, Cycles Lambert and COTR.
· $2000 – Youth Series Prizes sponsored by: OBB-Nanaimo, Tripleshot Cycling Club, Robert Cameron law, Trail Bicycles, Trek Pro City, RUMBLE, and Phillips Brewery (Not Beer)
· $1400 – Series GRAND DRAW PRIZE:. Frame from Naked Bikes complete with PRO Handle bar, stem and Seatpost (All built and ordered for you)
· $1200 – Series GRAND DRAW PRIZE: Wheelset from Zed Wheels
· $800 – Series Grand DRAW PRIZE: Wheelset from Zed Wheels
· $500 – Draw Prizes for Hotel Rooms at the Howard Johnston
· $1500 – Race Prizes for COTR#6 including something like 8 hemets, tools, random stuff. Sponsored by ALL THE BIKE SHOPS in Duncan; Cowichan Cycles, Experience and Cycle Therapy.
· $1085 – 7 Pairs of Pearl Izumi Shoes for prizing tomorrow from Frontrunners-Nanaimo and Pearl Izumi.
· Around…….say $1500-$2000 other random draw prizes from all out awesome sponsors and supporting shops.

So what is the total about?

That adds up to around $13000 worth of cash and prizes we are giving out tomorrow at the awards.

$13000!!!! This has got to be the biggest cross race prizing day in the history of Canada!!!

One “catch”. You gotta be there to collect and we are not hunting anyone down afterwards. Not there to collect….it goes into the pot to give out!!

Oh Yeah we also have about $200 worth of Nutcase Helmets and Bells to give away at the ‘Lil” nutty kids race too!!

What else?
You could say we have a few “extras” locked and loaded. Be there to find out!!

Other Stuff
· I have not done the draw for sending feedback from the Kona Kup or My Little Pony. Will do it tonight so if you want to send and get entered into the draw…..do it today before 6:00

· Rock Star Registration closes at 6:00pm today. Ronde Van Hogwarts Series Championship – http://www.raceonline.ca/events/details/?id=471

· Check out the submissions for our photo contest on our Face Book Page. We had 53 submissions and finished Round 1 of judging last night. Tonight Round 2 happens with 3 famous sports photographers judging for photo of the year.

· While you are on Facebook you might as well change your profile to a shot of you in a COTR race!

· Who would you vote “Most Improved” this year? We have our finalists…..who will it be?

· See everyone tomorrow! Bring someone new (or someone that has not raced for a while).

Ronde Van Hogwarts. Laste Ronde!

Three things to remember for this weekend.
1. Pre-register.
2. Make it to the start line.
3. Make it to the finish line.

As we all know the cross season is WAY too SHORT. There is a LONG-LONG time between now and the next cross race on Vancouver Island (actually we might be having a cross race in June…so stay tuned on that one). So come out and support the series. Have a great time. Finish the season right. The snow and REALLY bad weather will be here soon enough and we will all be dreaming of cross again too quickly.

We were last at Shawnigan Lake School way back in 2009 for the series championships. The following year we were scheduled to finish the series at Shawnigan again but we had a snow storm dumping about a meter of snow in that area and a bunch of their buildings were out of power….it was a mess….so we had to cancel the finals. We are looking forward to returning again to finish off the series this year.

A few BIG rules about the venue;
1. This is a private school. Please as always respect the venue and that we are guest here. Park where directed.
2. Do not ride on the playing fields.
3. No shoes in the club house. Bring indoor flip flops or warm socks for the awards afterwards….we will have the fire going.

Last time we were at Shawnigan in 2009 the category winners were:
Beginner Women: Mary Wakefield
Beginner Men: Liam Farrar
Intermediate Men: Geoff Pendrel
Masters Men: Justin Mark
Open Women: Mical Dyck
Expert: Craig Richey.

There are some notable names in the results that year: http://www.crossontherock.com//php/race-results/?raceid=22

The Pavilion will be used for registration and awards ceremony – NO SHOES

Students are aware of the event but since it is a “leave weekend” (campus will be almost empty of any students and staff)
We will be doing the event awards and then series awards right after the event in the Pavilion Building.

MAP of the venue is in the series guide.

Check out the series points. Roland has done the series points up with the DROP (lowest score) so that you can see where you stand….and who you need to beat this weekend: http://www.crossontherock.com//php/series-results/?series=2013&of=4
There are some TIGHT battles in there!
