C.O.T.R. URGENT UPDATE: THE DREAM IS DEAD. ISLAND CHAMPS CANCELLED.

Wendy and I organized all the wicked series prizes from Lambert and Oakley this morning.  I JUST picked up the Beautiful KONA Carbon Major Jake frame from Oak Bay Bikes in Nanaimo which was one of our series GRAND Prizes for tomorrow and I received a call from Ian Craib our site co-ordinator for Shawnigan Lake School.  They are not willing to let the race go tomorrow.  The usual concerns with Risk and Liability.  So the event it cancelled.

Unfortunately we can not just delay 1 or 2 weekends as the next two weekends are already booked.

I booted home from the shop to fire this out to you all so that you can plan on going out and having a few more drinks tonight….or what ever.

We are disappointed here and bummed but it was not our call.

Sorry.

Race #7 Island Championships: Pre Race

Update: There will be food. Included in your race fee with be a burger and pop, coffee or hot chocolate. Chili will be available at extra cost as a fundraiser.

Hello Cross on the Rock’ers (and everyone out there in TV Land)….did you miss us for the last week….are you READY to race this weekend? It looks like the forecast is forever changing the last few days….for the better. Still might be a bit nippy but it might be clear now. IFFFF there is snow on Saturday we are asking that everyone bring shovels and brooms to help clear the course. Unless there is a total blizzard and the roads up to Shawnigan Lake are closed down….the race will be a GO. It is cross….a winter sport….we can’t let anything stand in our way….plus after you watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iuxnUZyzs30 from Gary Croome…..well we don’t want to appear soft to the rest of the world now do we?

Things to report on:

Venue
Wow! Super cool venue at McLean Creek Mill National Historic Site. All sorts of cool equipment that we twisted through. Ponds. Creeks. The intestine. When the rain broke and the sky opened up for just a bit the views were amazing. PLUS some great soup from the Café.

Mud
Finally. It was not like Children of the Corn cross….but it was great never the less!
