Wendy and I organized all the wicked series prizes from Lambert and Oakley this morning.  I JUST picked up the Beautiful KONA Carbon Major Jake frame from Oak Bay Bikes in Nanaimo which was one of our series GRAND Prizes for tomorrow and I received a call from Ian Craib our site co-ordinator for Shawnigan Lake School.  They are not willing to let the race go tomorrow.  The usual concerns with Risk and Liability.  So the event it cancelled.

Unfortunately we can not just delay 1 or 2 weekends as the next two weekends are already booked.

I booted home from the shop to fire this out to you all so that you can plan on going out and having a few more drinks tonight….or what ever.

We are disappointed here and bummed but it was not our call.

Sorry.

Normon

thanks to Norm and Wendy and all that helped out with the series this year. This was soooo! much fun and what I love about the series is the great mix of professionalism and casualness of the organizers and the great atmosphere from racers. Everyone that shows up for a race will be welcomed, supported and accepted and that sort of thing is what is making this sport grow so much. I know it’s a cliche but the “Island feel” of the series is quite special I think. So great job everyone!

Lastly: keep an eye out for cross related events this winter through Capital City Cycles there’s a cross alleycat coming up on Dec. 5th (Cross Contamination), organized by Clay who raced his first cross race in Port Alberni (bitten hard by the cross bug). The second annual Blubber Burn Classic cross race will be held in January to burn of the Christmas blubber, and then we’ll have an event in February as well.
    See you there!
