Race #2 KONA KUP: Post Race

OK we admit it. We had a MAJOR technical glitch today at our second event of the 2010 Cross on the Rock series. It was a bit embarrassing actually and required a lot of wrangling to fix. You see we ran out of entry forms for the first time. We usually copy 115. Wendy made 120 just in case and being optimistic for the day. When our registration person said we were out of our forms, we had used up the template one and the ones left over from Cumberland….well we were pretty happy!

The KONA KUP…..RECORD TURN OUT. Breaking our last record turn out from Coal Cross…..we had a total of 134 racers breaking the Coal Cross record by 29!!

We even ran out of space on our timing sheets for the Intermediate as our sheets only go to 35….but we made due.

THANKS everyone for coming out and making it a HUGE success!

Race #2 KONA KUP: Pre Race

OK…..we are getting set to bring you race number 2 in season number 5 of Cross on the Rock. The last time we hosted a race on a thanksgiving Monday it was our biggest turn out to date…..we even used the controversial Juan de-Fuca velodrome! With the easy access to and from the ferry of Bowen Park in Nanaimo….we hope to again have a great turn out.

THE RACE GUIDE is NOW POSTED. And updated: the correct date of the race is Monday October 11th, 2010.

PLEASE NOTE we have made some adjustments to the race schedule including: 1) Moving start times up a tiny bit so that racers from the mainland can snag the 5pm sailing home and 2) the OPEN WOMEN will be racing with the intermediate men….we are going to try this out and see how it goes.

Race #1 Cumberland: Post Race

POST RACE REPORT

CROSS ON THE ROCK 2010 #1: Coal Cross

FULL RESULTS FOR COAL CROSS NOW POSTED!

Usually our race reports are a detailed BLOW-BY-BLOW of the action of each of our races…..well with the “New Race Day Protocol” that Wendy and I are now following (Called the Tycho Protocol) we really did not get to see as much action as we normally do. SO until we find a new race reporter we will have a different kind of report for you. Less blow-by-blow and more of “other stuff”.

Race #1 Cumberland: Pre Race – Updates!

There are a few more things to pass on before the first race:

First of all a note from our first time race director: Lisa Ludwig: “I’d like to enter a clause that we’d like racers to be conscientious of the mud they might leave behind in the bathrooms as this will affect our impression on the Village and may impact if we are invited to host at this venue again.”

DON’T GET THE BATHROOMS MUDDY!

RACE GUIDE FOR RACE #1: NOW POSTED!
